Saturday, March 16th OEJ is hosting an Arkham Horror: The Card Game challenge worthy of Yog-Sothoth! This time around, we will be jumping into the deep end with a spin on a scenario from the Dunwich Legacy campaign. This scenario is designed for seasoned players who wish to test their skills in a true nightmare scenario, designed by Matt Newman of Fantasy Flight Games.
If you’re brand new to the game, we hope you’ll stay tuned for future events! We’ll be hosting other campaigns geared towards new players later this year!
Entry to this event is $5, and we’ll be providing loot for you! We strongly suggest you save your spot by registering in advance!
Here’s what you need to know:
We’ll be facing down a hoard of Brood of Yog-Sothoth while trying to get through the Undimensioned and Unseen scenario. The goal is to kill as many horrors as we can and possibly - if we’re lucky - we may even be able to resign before the brood finishes us off!
Keep in mind that Brood of Yog-Sothoth is immune to almost all forms of damage. The only way to kill one is to hunt for the Esoteric Formula, a spell card you can pick up during the campaign. It uses Willpower instead of Fight for attacks!
OEJ will be providing all the materials for the scenario, so all you need to bring with you is your Investigator deck. More on that below! First, a few special rules that will be in play, just to keep us on our feet!
Ultimatum of Invisibility – Each Brood of Yog-Sothoth gains the Elite trait and is immune to all player card effects except for the effects of Esoteric Formula (the formula is the only way we’ll kill it!)
Ultimatum of Multiplication – The scenario will start with a Brood of Yog-Sothoth in each of the five locations on our map besides Dunwich Village.
Ultimatum of Agony – When assigning damage or horror from a single source, investigators must assign as much damage or horror as possible to a single card before any excess damage or horror may be assigned to a different card.
You’ll need to bring your carefully crafted Investigator deck, but make sure to follow the rules below!
Ultimatum of the Keeper’s Challenge – Investigator decks cannot include any of the following cards:
Elusive (Core Set, 50)
Astral Travel (The Path to Carcosa, 34)
Cat Burglar (Core Set, 55)
Mists of R'lyeh (The Forgotten Age, 29)
Lure (The Essex County Express, 156)
Think on your Feet (The Dunwich Legacy, 25)
Shortcut (The Dunwich Legacy, 22)
Shortcut (The Pallid Mask, 232)
Survival Instinct (Core Set, 81)
Survival Instinct (Undimensioned and Unseen, 235)
Pathfinder (The Miskatonic Museum, 108)
Finally, don’t forget that you can make use of XP, following the standalone scenario rules:
0-9 experience: 0 additional random basic weaknesses
10-19 experience: 1 additional random basic weakness
20-29 experience: 2 additional random basic weaknesses
30-39 experience: 3 additional random basic weaknesses
40-49 experience: 4 additional random basic weaknesses
